Telangana: Chief Minister announces pension of Rs 25 thousand for Padma award winners

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Sunday announced a check of Rs 25 lakh for Padma awardees besides a pension of Rs 25,000. He facilitated Padma award recipients including former Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and popular film actor Chiranjeevi at Shilpakala Vedika here on Sunday. The Chief Minister has appreciated the contribution of various Padma awardees.

On this occasion, Revanth said that the state government considers honoring Padma awardees as a responsibility beyond politics. He underlined the need for unity among the Telugu speaking people regardless of place of origin. He said that his government has started a great tradition and wished that it would continue.

“Dasari Kondappa comes from my district. It would also be a burden for them to travel such a distance to attend such a felicitation program. Under these circumstances, my government has decided to give a pension of Rs 25,000 every month,” Revanth said. He said such a move would help protect the Telugu language and Telugu traditions and customs. His wish was that Venkaiah Naidu should be elevated to the level of the President of India.
