Telangana News: One person died in a drunken brawl in Khammam

KHAMMAM.KHAMMAM: A 25-year-old man from Andhra Pradesh died in Bonkal on Monday due to a brawl at a liquor shop. Sources said the victim Uyyala Nagendrababu, who lives with his wife at Challagariga village in Guntur district, had come to his native village Vemulnarava in Vatsavai mandal of NTR district to spend time with his mother and cast his vote for the elections. He was in Vemulnarava, which is close to the Telangana border, for a month. He went to Bonkal, which falls in the erstwhile Khammam district, on Sunday to consume alcohol. After consuming a bottle of beer at a shop, Nagendra asked an employee, Gali Gopalakrishna, to bring another bottle. After consuming two more bottles, he created a ruckus and threatened other customers with a broken glass bottle. During this, the glass pieces fell on the accused Bobila Upendra and Morla Parasuram, who got angry over the incident and confronted Nagendrababu, due to which the store management threw him out. Following this, Upendra and Parasuram attacked Nagendra and also pelted stones at him. Meanwhile, some people intervened and rescued the victim from the accused. Later, Nagendra fell unconscious near Sagar Bridge between Vatsavai and Bonakal. His family members were informed and Nagendra’s brother called an auto-rickshaw to take him away. Sources said that since the victim was stinking of alcohol, they thought he was drunk and took him home.

At around 3 pm on Monday, the 25-year-old’s condition deteriorated, following which the family members rushed him to Khammam Government Hospital. Doctors declared him dead.

With the body, the family members took his body back to Vemulanarava, where the police allegedly refused to register a complaint and told them to lodge the complaint at the spot. They then took the body to the Bonakal police station, where Gopi lodged a complaint. The body was taken to Khammam Government Hospital for post-mortem. ACP Mohammed Abdul Rehman told reporters at the police station that a case has been registered and investigation is underway.
