Srinagar was the hottest day of the season so far yesterday with a maximum temperature of 33.3 degrees Celsius, an official of the Meteorological Department said. The maximum temperature is likely to increase further in the coming days.

After experiencing inclement weather with an unusual drop in temperature during the beginning of the month, the warm days are seen as a blessing by gardeners and farmers as fruit trees and paddy grow vegetatively and then fall into autumn. Heat is necessary for breakdown in ripe fruits.
