The condition of internal organs of Tejas Cheetah was not better

Bhopal (IANS). The post-mortem report has made a big disclosure regarding the death of a male cheetah in Kuno National Park, Madhya Pradesh. According to this report, the internal organs of Cheetah Tejas were not in good condition and this is also the reason for its death.

Chief Conservator of Forests Wildlife J.S. Chauhan has told that the prima facie possible reason for the death of male cheetah “Tejas” brought from South Africa in Kuno National Park is traumatic shock.

He told that the autopsy of Tejas, who was found dead on July 11, was conducted by three wildlife doctors posted in Cheetah Project and experts from School of Wildlife Forensic and Health, Jabalpur and senior wildlife doctor from Van Vihar National Park, Bhopal, at Palpur-based Wildlife Hospital. Chauhan told that during the autopsy, the weight of the cheetah was 43 kg. found to be less than the average weight of a normal male cheetah. Outwardly, the cheetah had wound marks on its neck which were not very deep but limited to the outer skin only. No puncture wood was also found in it.

Cheetah’s lungs, heart, spleen and kidney were not found normal during internal examination. The accumulation of chicken fat and coagulated blood were also found in the aorta and auricle of the heart. Along with kidney being pulpy, demarcation was not found in cortex and medulla, emphysema and white colored nodules were found in spleen.

According to the wildlife doctors who conducted the autopsy, the internal organs of “Tejas” were not functioning normally. At this stage, the chances of “Tejas” getting fully healthy had reduced considerably. Possibly due to the internal weakness of the cheetah, it could not recover from the trauma caused by the violent clash with the other female cheetah in the enclosure.
