The country’s first indigenous aircraft, which took off on this day

New Delhi: This day is recorded in golden letters in the history of India. On this day, the first aircraft manufactured in India, Hindustan Trainer 2, took off. Only four years had passed since India’s independence. The government faced many challenges in India, which was struggling with the pain of partition and poverty. Despite all this, India did not let its high dreams and high spirits waver.

It was the year 1951, when Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) did a feat that no one could have imagined. The first indigenously manufactured aircraft Hindustan Trainer-2 was manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. This aircraft was designed and manufactured by the company under the leadership of Dr. VM Ghatge. This aircraft was named HT-2 Trainer aircraft.

HT-2 is a two-seater trainer aircraft. 73 years ago on this day, the first indigenously manufactured aircraft Hindustan Trainer-2 took off in front of the general public. It is said that this aircraft had already been flown and tested, but it was officially presented to the country on 13 August. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited manufactured more than 150 trainer aircraft after the success of Hindustan Trainer 2. These aircraft were used for the Indian Air Force and other purposes. Not only this, the indigenous aircraft Hindustan Trainer 2 was also given to Ghana. The Ghana Air Force used it between 1959 and 1974.

Let us tell you that the length of this aircraft was 7.53 meters (24 feet 8 inches). The weight was 1,016 kg and the maximum speed was 210 km / h. Apart from military use, this aircraft was also used in Indian flying schools. In the year 1953, the production of this two-seater aircraft HT-2 started for the Indian Air Force and Navy. However, after serving for 39 years, the indigenous aircraft Hindustan Trainer-2 was retired.
