The court sentenced the rapist to life imprisonment

Korba. In a case of raping a teenager, the court has sentenced the accused to life imprisonment. The incident happened about 3 years back. Accused Vishal Soni had obtained her mobile number on the pretext of a girl who had reached a mall in the city with her friends. After this, he befriended the teenager while talking continuously. Calling the girl to a temple near the city, he filled her with vermilion there and took her to his home and raped her.

The accused had also made an objectionable video of the victim teenager, which he kept raping while threatening to make it viral on social media. A report was lodged on behalf of the victim at the Bankimongra police station. The case against the accused was pending in the Court of Special Judge (POCSO). During the hearing in the case, Special Public Prosecutor Arun Kumar Dhruv, appearing on behalf of the government, made statements of evidence other than the victim. On being proved guilty of rape, Special Judge Vikram Pratap Chandra sentenced accused Vishal Soni to life imprisonment. Also punished with fine. Apart from this, the accused has also been punished under the Atrocity Act and other sections.
