The elephant took the life of an old woman sleeping inside the house
Korba: Elephants crushed an old woman to death in Pasan range of Katghora forest range of the district. The woman was sleeping in her house. On receiving information about the incident, DFO Kumar Nishant reached the spot. The woman’s body has been sent for postmortem.
According to the information, an elderly woman named Son Kunwar (84) was sleeping inside the house in Pangwa village of Pasan range, when a herd of elephants entered the house and attacked her. The elephants crushed him to death, while other family members managed to escape.
Actually, a herd of 42 elephants got lost in Baigapara, a settlement situated on the hill, on Tuesday. Some of these elephants entered Son Kunwar’s house. Other members of the family managed to escape after seeing the elephants, but the 84-year-old elderly woman could not run away and the elephants crushed her, resulting in her death on the spot. After this the elephants also ate all the millet kept in the house.
