The elephant’s family perished due to the negligence of the electricity department

In Raigarh district, last night, a male and female elephant along with their child, who were passing by, died on the spot after coming in contact with the wires hanging from an electric pole. Probably this is the first case in the state, where the whole family of elephants died due to electric shock.
As soon as the information of the incident was received, the Divisional Officer of the district Stylo Mandavi has reached with his team. This incident happened inside the nursery of the Forest Department in Gharghoda block of Raigarh district, which is operated in village Chahukimar. The Forest Department got information about this incident that happened late at night this morning, after which the team of the department has decided to get the post-mortem of the bodies done while examining the three dead bodies. In this area, a group of 78 elephants has entered from Dharamjaygarh Forest Division to Raigarh Forest Division since last night, and were continuously damaging the paddy crop in the fields in the area. During this time, due to the death of the elephant family, environmentalists have also accused the Electricity Department of negligence.
After the death of three elephants due to electrocution in a nursery run by the forest department in Chuhkimar village of Raigarh forest division, the SDO of Gharghoda subdivision who reached the spot said that three elephants died due to electrocution in Kachkoba premises. The forest department team is taking action after reaching the spot. This includes one male, one female and a cub. He said that the report is awaited after conducting the post-mortem of all the three bodies.
