The victim, who reached the police station with her 9-month-old daughter, says that for not giving dowry, the husband had driven away the minor girl living in the neighborhood and brought her home. The matter is of Amalipadar police station area. The police have arrested the accused husband. According to Ganga Dhruv (23), living in Dhuruvapathra, she was married to Lakhidhar Dhruv (28) in February 2022. After a year of marriage, the husband started demanding dowry from her. According to the woman, he also threatened to take another wife if she did not give dowry. The accused had eloped with the minor and brought her home 15 days ago, and was going to marry her. The woman told that instead of stopping her son’s mistake, his mother-in-law and father-in-law also supported him.
A meeting was organized on 13th April to resolve the issue of making a minor a second wife. But the representatives of the society did not give any decision on the matter of second marriage of a minor as the matter was illegal. After this decision of the society, the wife got courage and on April 14, she called the team formed to stop minor marriages and informed about the incident. After this the team rescued the minor and handed him over to his family. On Tuesday, he reached the police station and lodged a complaint about the matter. Amlipadar police station in-charge Jaisingh Dhruve said that a case of dowry harassment has been registered against the accused husband. On the basis of the report of the mother of the abducted minor girl, a case has been registered against the accused Lakhidhar under POCSO Act and other sections and the accused has been arrested.
