The life of backward tribal families is improving due to Pradhan Mantri Janman Yojana

Raipur. Pradhan Mantri Janman Awas Yojana has made Ganga Ram’s dream of a permanent house come true and Ganga Ram’s family has now got relief from all the problems that they had to face in a kutcha house. 12 km from the remote development block Baderajpur of Kondagaon district, Chanabharri of Gram Panchayat Kosmi is where 10 Kamar families of the special backward tribal group reside. Chanabharri settlement under Gram Panchayat Kosmi comes in Vangram, which is adjacent to the forest. The main occupation of these families is based on agriculture and forest produce, with which they make their living. Under the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyay Maha Abhiyan (Janman), Chanabharri has been identified as a settlement of special backward tribal group and work is being done to provide all basic facilities to all the 10 Kamar families residing here by linking them with all the schemes of the Central and State Government. The district administration is trying to implement the scheme better with the coordinated efforts of all the departments. Ganga Ram Markam, a resident of Chanabharri, is one of those special backward tribal Kamar families who have received the benefit of a permanent house under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana under the Janman Yojana. Ganga Ram is very happy to get a permanent house today and this has started a change in his life.

Ganga Ram’s family was living in a hut
Ganga Ram’s family, who is facing financial difficulties, used to live in a hut-like house. Which was made of wood and plastic in the roof. Ganga Ram lives with his wife and parents and his parents have become old. To run the house, Ganga Ram makes various types of traditional household items from bamboo and his wife helps Ganga Ram in this work. Ganga Ram, along with his wife, also collects forest produce, which includes char-chironji, mahua etc. Ganga Ram brings these products to sell in Vishrampuri market and with the income obtained from this, he fulfills the small needs of the house. Ganga Ram says that it is very difficult for his family to survive with this.

Being adjacent to the forest, his family also had to face dangers from snakes, scorpions and other wildlife. Recalling the rainy days, Ganga Ram says that water used to drip from the hut during the rainy season, which was a big problem for our family, because the water dripping from the roof would fill the hut, due to which the things used in daily life would get spoiled and due to this Ganga Ram’s family had to face difficulties in many ways. During the rainy season, the plastic installed on the roof of the house would get damaged due to heavy rain and strong sunlight, then the thought of a permanent house came to Ganga Ram’s mind, but due to limited means of income, building a permanent house was like a dream for Ganga Ram.

Pucca house received from Janman Yojana, Ganga Ram’s life became easier
Ganga Ram got housing approval in the year 2023-24 under Janman Yojana. After the housing approval, Ganga Ram’s hope of building his own permanent house seemed to be fulfilled and as soon as he received the first installment amount, he got the direction to fulfill his dream, after which the housing construction work was started on the basis of technical guidance at the district, district and village panchayat level. The installment amount was received on the basis of the progress of the work, as the level of work increased, today his dream house was completed and ready. Making good use of the amount of Rs 2 lakh 23 thousand 850 including the amount of 90 days’ wages under MNREGA received from the government and the housing grant amount of Rs 02 lakh, Ganga Ram completed the construction of the house in a timely manner.

Since it was very difficult to run the house due to low income, in that situation getting one’s own permanent house constructed was no less than a dream. The family of Ganga Ram, a resident of Chanabhari, who earlier used to live in a kutcha hut, is today living a safe and peaceful life by living in their permanent house. Along with Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Gangaram has also got a gas connection under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, which has made his kitchen smoke-free and has also freed him from the ill-effects of smoke. The life of Gangaram and his family has become better and easier than before due to the welfare schemes of the government. He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Chief Minister of the state Vishnudev Sai for this.
