Chhindwara: In a remarkable step, a man from Chhindwara got his widowed daughter-in-law remarried on Sunday, two years after her husband’s death.
Mangal Bawariya, living in Parasia, got his widowed daughter-in-law Rakhi remarried two years after the death of her husband Jai Kishan Bawariya due to jaundice. Seeing Rakhi’s loneliness, Mangal decides to break social norms and ensure her happiness by facilitating a second marriage.
The Bavariya family, supported by Pasi Samaj Trust, sets out on a journey to find a suitable boy for Rakhi. After a lot of efforts, Ajay Kaithawas from Parasia, Chhindwara was selected as the prospective groom. With Rakhi’s consent, Mangal finalizes the alliance and the marriage ceremony takes place at the Gayatri Temple. Mangal’s participation went beyond the traditional, as he performed ‘Kanyadan’ to symbolize accepting Rakhi as his daughter.
This remarkable initiative that challenges social norms aims to bring happiness and support back into the lives of bereaved women.
On this occasion, other community members including Tarachand Bavariya, Keshav Kaithwas, Shri Narayan Kaithwas and Engineer Rajan Kaithwas of Pasi Samaj Trust were also present.
