The mercury fell to -7 degrees Celsius in Lahaul’s Kumkumseri
The minimum temperature has dropped below zero degrees at many places in the state. Kumkumseri in Lahaul and Spiti district recorded the lowest temperature of -7.3 degrees Celsius. Major places recording temperatures below zero degrees include Sundernagar, Bhuntar, Kalpa, Manali, Narkanda, Reckong Peo etc. The maximum temperature was recorded at 22.7 degrees centigrade.
Since the minimum and maximum temperatures are below normal, the Meteorological Department has advised farmers to take some measures to control cold in poultry houses and dairy sheds.
On the other hand, new cases have been registered in Kalpa and Sangla of Kinnaur district. The Meteorological Department expects the weather to remain dry till December 19, although there is a possibility that a new western disturbance will affect the Himalayan region from December 16.
