The poor will not remain hungry, the government took a big decision

As per Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guarantee of providing free rice to poor families for the next five years, Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai has decided to provide free rice to poor families in Chhattisgarh for the next five years. Due to this, poor families will get free rice from fair price shops from the new year from January 2024 to December 2028.
Following the instructions of the Chief Minister, the Food and Civil Supplies Department has issued instructions to all the collectors in this regard. With this decision, 67 lakh 92 thousand 153 eligible ration card holders of Antyodaya, Priority, Disabled and Single Destitute categories of the state will get free rice through government fair price shops as per their eligibility.
Chief Minister Sai, on the lines of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s distribution of free monthly entitlement rice on Antyodaya and priority category ration cards under the National Food Security Act for the next 5 years from January 2024 to December 2028, has announced Antyodaya under the Chhattisgarh Food and Nutrition Security Act. Instructions have been given to distribute free rice to priority, disabled and single destitute category ration card holders for the next five years.
Officials of the Food Department said that under the Food Security Act, 14 lakh 92 thousand 438 ration card holders of Antyodaya category, 52 lakh 46 thousand 656 of priority category, 37 thousand 708 of single destitute category and 15 thousand 351 disabled category holders will be eligible from January 2024. Will benefit from free rice distribution for five years.
