The share of South Cinema in the revenue of Indian cinema reached 52 percent

movie : No matter which state you go to in the country, you are raving about southern movies. This trend which started with Baahubali has gained more momentum recently. As Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam films are being released as Pan India films, the figures show that the share of the five southern states has reached 52 percent of the total Indian film revenue.

Due to the release of blockbuster Pan India films like RRR, KGF-2 and Kantara in 2022, the lion’s share of the box office collections will be captured by Southern films. In 2022, if the total film collection across the country is Rs. 15 thousand crores, the share of southern films is estimated to be Rs. 7,836 crores. It is 52 percent of the total revenue. Meanwhile, when it comes to the number of movies, 1,691 were released in 2022, out of which 54 percent i.e. 916 movies were from southern states. If we come to the predictions for the latest year, market sources predict that Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam films will collect more than last year.
