The state government is committed towards empowering the specially abled people to lead a life with self-respect

Jaipur : Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Premchand Bairwa said that the state government is running various schemes to empower the specially abled people to lead a life with self-respect and contribute to the progress of the state. The state government is continuously making efforts to ensure that the benefits of these schemes reach every disabled person in the state.
Dr. Prem Chand Bairwa was addressing the state level Divyangjan Award ceremony organized at Bhagwant Singh Mehta Auditorium, Nehru Bhawan, Harishchandra Mathur Rajasthan Institute of Public Administration on Thursday as the chief guest.
He said that World Disabled Day is celebrated every year on 3 December by the Government of India. On this day, the best specially abled persons in various categories and the best individuals and institutions working in the field of specially abled persons are awarded at the national level by the Government of India. On the same lines, on 3rd December, the state government awards awards at the state level to the best specially abled people working in the field of welfare of specially abled people and the best individuals and institutions working in the field of specially abled people.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that through this award ceremony, the individuals and institutions receiving the awards will be encouraged and the society will be able to know about the work done by them and their talents.
Dr. Prem Chand Bairwa said that more than 6.48 lakh disabled persons are receiving regular pension every month under the Social Security Pension Scheme in the state. An accessible environment is being created for the disabled people in the state so that they can fully utilize their potential. He said that this honor is just a symbol for the disabled people and organizations being honored today, there are many such special talents hidden in the society which we have a moral responsibility to bring in front of the society.
Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Dr. Avinash Gehlot, who was presiding over the function, said that we all will work together and realize the dream of developed Rajasthan along with developed India. He assured that the state government will bring beneficial and welfare schemes in the interest of the specially-abled people and by working with transparency, the benefits of the schemes will be directly extended to the specially-abled people. The state government will endeavor to ensure that no deprived and needy section of the society remains untouched from the benefits of the public welfare schemes of the department.
He said that in today’s ceremony, a total of 53 people including 31 best specially abled persons and 22 individuals and institutions working in the field of best specially abled persons were honored with citations and cash prizes. He said that the intention of the state government is to connect the specially-abled people with the main stream of society by providing them the benefits of various schemes run for their welfare. Rajasthan is one of the leading states in identifying and certifying the disabled people and issuing them unique disability identity cards.
Shri Gehlot said that the state government certifies a person suffering from silicosis as soon as possible and provides him Rs 3 lakh for financial assistance and treatment and Rs 2 lakh for providing financial support to the family after his death. Also, as soon as silicosis is certified, they are provided benefits like pension, foster care etc. schemes like specially abled people.
Shri Kuldeep Ranka, Additional Chief Secretary Social Justice and Empowerment said that the effort of every public welfare government is to wipe the tears of the people standing on the last line and provide them economic and social support. He said that the state government is working with the concept of one for all, all for one and is trying to bring far-reaching changes in the society.
