Theft of gold ornaments and cash, thieves caught with the help of 150 CCTV cameras
Kondagaon. Thieves had raided Sanmukh Rao’s deserted house in Kondagaon on the 17th. The accused stole gold ornaments and cash from the almirah by breaking the lock. In the case the crime was registered and taken into consideration on the report of the applicant Sanmukh Rao. In view of the thefts happening in Kondagaon police station area, Kondagaon Superintendent of Police Y. Under the direction of Akshay Kumar, the team of Thana Kondagaon and Cyber Cell Kondagaon was assigned the task to solve the theft cases.
About 150 CCTV cameras of Kondagaon city were searched to find out the accused. Also worked on other technical evidence. On which two persons were suspiciously found roaming around the applicant’s house on a bike on the day of the incident. On enquiry, the names of the suspects were found to be Nayan Ali and Masoom Sheikh. Regarding this, information was received from the informer that both the above suspects come to Kondagaon from Borigumma Odisha to commit theft. A police team was formed and sent to Borigumma to search for the suspects. By whom the suspects were traced and brought to Kondagaon police station for questioning.
During interrogation, the suspects told that they work as hawkers. Those who often used to come from Borigumma to Kondagaon in bike to steal. Seeing the opportunity, he used to break the lock of deserted houses and steal the ornaments and cash kept in the almirah and go to Odisha by bike. On interrogation, both the accused confessed to theft on 25.05.23 at Housing Board Colony Kondagaon and on 17.07.23 at Sheetlapara Kondagaon.
Police recovered about 10.05 tola gold, which is worth about Rs 6 lakh 50 thousand, along with two silver anklets worth Rs 3500 and Rs 24 thousand in cash, and two bikes (Rs 2 lakh) bought from the stolen money from the thieves. An offense has been registered against both the accused.
