There is a big conspiracy going on to eliminate me politically: DK Shivakumar
Bengaluru: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Monday alleged that a larger conspiracy was afoot to eliminate him politically, after the Central Bureau of Investigation served a notice to the Kerala-based Jaihind Communications Pvt Ltd channel led by him.
The central agency on Sunday issued a notice to the company seeking details of investments made by Shivakumar in the channel in the disproportionate assets case against the Congress leader.
The Bengaluru unit of the agency, which is investigating the case against Shivakumar, had asked the managing director of Jaihind Communications Pvt Ltd. Ltd. will have to appear before the investigating officer on January 11, 2024, with all the necessary documents sought by him.
Responding to the latest developments, the Deputy CM said that if CBI wants to arrest him then let them do so because they are ready for it.
Shivakumar, who is also the Karnataka Congress unit president, wondered how the CBI was issuing a notice against his company when it had all the documents.
“I don’t know how they are issuing the notice. They have all the documents. It’s not because they don’t have any documents. There are big people out to harass me. I know everything. It’s not that I I am unaware.” “Let them do whatever they want to do to eliminate me politically,” Kanakapura MLA Shivakumar told reporters here.
“This is a big conspiracy going on. Some BJP leaders had earlier said that they will send me to jail. They have given their message to the concerned department. I have asked those who talked about me to come for discussion. One thing is that a big conspiracy is being hatched,” he said.
Asserting that he has done nothing wrong and will get justice, Shivakumar said let the CBI conduct any investigation against him.
On the question whether he had received the notice, he said that his company had received the notice.
Shivakumar said, “A notice has been sent to my partnership firm, of which I am the head. They are asking my children, my wife and relatives. The CBI is asking our family members and people from our village who are involved in the society. is the director of.”
When asked if he had received a personal notice, he said the CBI would first complete its investigation on a concrete level and then come to him.
Shivakumar said the state government has referred the matter to the Lokayukta, although he had not requested or insisted on it.
The government has withdrawn the permission given to CBI to prosecute him and handed over the case to Lokayukta.
He said that whenever Lokayukta asks, he will answer.
“Earlier the case was given to CBI. The investigation is not complete yet. They wanted cross-examination, which they did not do. Now, based on their notice, (it seems) they did not do even 10 per cent about the investigation. , but he told the court that 90 per cent of the investigation has been completed. I don’t know the basis behind his claim,” Shivakumar said.
On whether he would challenge the notice, he said the CBI was calling him but “there is no opportunity for me to go there.”
“They are asking me to challenge my notice. If they want to see me behind bars, let them do so. I have no problem. I am ready for it,” he said.
Shivakumar, accused in a money laundering case, had spent 51 days in Tihar jail in 2019.
Recently, the Karnataka government withdrew the permission given to the CBI to investigate the cases against Shivakumar, saying it was ‘not in accordance with the law’.
