There is huge demand for Chhag lamps in Delhi and Telangana

Durg: This time special lamps are being made for Diwali in Durg city, known as the Steel City. This time, the women of Kalyan Self Help Group are preparing special lamps made of cow dung to illuminate your homes. These lamps are being made from cow dung and multani mitti. The special thing is that these lamps are completely eco-friendly, that is, these lamps will neither harm the environment nor spoil your health.

In Hindu religion, both cow and dung are considered very sacred. It is believed that where cow and cow dung reside, Goddess Lakshmi resides there. Keeping this in mind, Kalyanam Self Help Group of Durg has made lamps made of cow dung, which people are liking very much.

Women associated with self-help groups say that there is not much demand for these lamps in the local market but there is a huge demand for these lamps in outside states. In the neighboring states of Telangana, Delhi and Rajasthan, there is so much demand for these lamps made from cow dung that even after working hard day and night, they are not able to fulfill them.
