There will be no electricity or disconnection in the state during winter
Shimla. After the warning from the Meteorological Department, PWD and Electricity Board have intensified preparations. This time PWD is preparing different strategies for both urban and outer areas. Snow will be removed with small machines in the city and bigger machines will be used outside the city.
PWD has called a meeting of officials in view of the preparations for snowfall. In this meeting, instructions will be given to open roads in probable areas immediately after snowfall.
Preparations have been made to keep employees alert at the division level. Also, like last year, the mobile numbers of JCB drivers will be linked to the emergency room. JCB drivers can be called to the spot at any time if needed. Apart from this, PWD will also take a decision on the holidays of the employees in the coming days.
If there is heavy snowfall in the state, holidays may be cancelled. However, before implementing all these decisions, an important meeting of PWD is going to be organized. PWD Chief Engineer Captain SP Jagota said that in view of the possibility of snow, an important meeting of departmental officials will be held soon. In this, snowfall arrangements will be discussed and decisions will be taken.
On the other hand, the Electricity Board has started preparations for winter. In this sequence, electrical wires are being repaired in snowfall affected areas. The Electricity Board has launched a massive campaign in Shimla, Kinnaur, Kullu, Lahaul and Chamba. Board employees are busy strengthening the transformers and HT lines, so that there is no power cut in the area during snowfall. Electricity Board Managing Director Harikesh Meena said that the Electricity Board has given orders to prepare for winter.
