These 5 districts to receive heavy rainfall today, 13 in orange alert
Bhubaneswar: Heavy rainfall alert in Odisha along with thundershower with one or two intense and heavy spell of rain likely to affect five districts.
The following districts of Odisha are likely to experience extremely heavy rainfall namely: Mayurbhanj, Nabarangpur. Koraput, Kalahandi, and Rayagada within the next three (3) hours.
Water logging in low lying area, occasionally poor visibility and traffic disruption in urban area is likely.
The weather department has advised to avoid movement in affected areas and do arrangement for drainage of excess water.
An orange warning has been issued to as many as 13 districts for heavy rainfall and a yellow warning has been issued to as many as 11 districts for heavy to very heavy rainfall tomorrow.
It is worth mentioning that, yesterday’s well-marked low pressure area over central parts of North Bay of Bengal concentrated into a depression and lay centered at 0530 hours IST of today, the 1st August, 2023 over northeast Bay of Bengal near latitude 20.5°N and longitude 91.5°E about 200 km southeast of Khepupara (Bangladesh) and 430 km east-southeast of Digha (West Bengal) .
It is likely to intensify further into a Deep Depression and move northwestwards and cross Bangladesh coast near Khepupara around evening of today, the 1st August.
Thereafter, it is very likely to move west-northwestwards across Gangetic West Bengal during subsequent 24 hours causing heavy rainfall.
