Thorrur Municipal Chairman Election Postponed Brs Councilors Protest

Thorrur: The municipal chairman election in Thorrur has been postponed. The BRS party has expressed deep dissatisfaction over this. BRS leaders are questioning why the chairman election was postponed even though BRS has the required majority. BRS councilors have been shifted to a special camp after the chairman election was postponed. The Thorrur municipal chairman and vice-chairman elections are likely to be held tomorrow.
Out of the total 16 wards in the Thorrur Municipality, the BRS party won 9 wards and the Congress party won 7 wards. In fact, whoever has 9 wards should get the chairman’s post. Accordingly, the chairman’s post belongs to the BRS party. But with the registration of Congress MP Kadiyam Kavya and Palakurthi MLA Yashaswini Reddy as ex-officio members, the Congress’s strength also increased to 9. With this, a situation arose where the chairman and vice-chairman had to be elected through a draw.
However.. Kadiyam Kavya had previously registered her name as an ex-officio member in Warangal Corporation. Now, BRS leaders are expressing strong objection to her registering her name as an ex-officio member in Thorrur as well. They are questioning how she, who is an ex-officio member in Warangal Corporation, can now register her name as an ex-officio member in Thorrur.
BRS leaders have complained to the Election Commission about this. In this context, the officials have postponed the election of the Thorrur Municipal Chairman. However, the BRS ranks are questioning why the chairman election was postponed, saying that Kadiyam Kavya does not have the right to vote in Thorrur, and that BRS has a clear majority. They are protesting against the officials’ behavior.
