Tindivanam Annai Indira Gandhi Bus Stand: The CM will inaugurate it today.

Tamil Nadu: Chief Minister M.K. Stalin will inaugurate the new Indira Gandhi Bus Stand in Tindivanam, Villupuram district, constructed at a cost of Rs. 26 crore, on Wednesday (February 4).
The Indira Gandhi Bus Stand in Tindivanam, which had been in use for approximately 45 years, had to be relocated due to space constraints. Following persistent demands from passengers, Tindivanam town traders, and members of political parties, construction of a new bus stand was initiated on municipal land along the Trichy-Chennai National Highway.
The Tindivanam Municipal Administration and Water Supply Department has constructed the bus stand on a 6-acre area at an estimated cost of approximately Rs. 26 crore. The facility includes 50 bus bays, 61 shops, a vegetarian restaurant, a non-vegetarian restaurant, a storage room, 10 waiting rooms, 6 time storage rooms, a police control room, an “Information” room, a bus booking room, a train booking room, a driver and conductor lounge, 2 lounges for persons with disabilities, 3 men’s and women’s restrooms, a health department office, 2 free urinals, an administration room, and a registration room.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin is inaugurating the bus stand from the stage of a welfare scheme distribution ceremony.
Bus Stand Renaming: After the completion of the new bus stand in Tindivanam, it was initially named Muthamizharignar Dr. Kalaignar Centenary Bus Stand.
This led to a lack of consensus among political parties regarding the naming of the bus stand. The controversy arose when political parties demanded different names according to their preferences.
In this situation, on Monday night, the name of Karunanidhi, which had been affixed to the new bus stand, was removed amidst protests from DMK members.
Subsequently, following action by the Tindivanam Municipality, the new bus stand was renamed Indira Gandhi Bus Stand. The renaming, attributed to the actions of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, has been praised by political parties and the public.
