TMC expressed confidence in controversial MP Mahua Moitra, took this decision
New Delhi: Mamta Banerjee has given new responsibility to Mahua Moitra, who was surrounded by allegations of asking questions in Parliament in exchange for cash. The party has made him the president of Krishnanagar district. This district is under his own Lok Sabha seat. In this way she has become stronger in her parliamentary constituency. He has been accused of taking cash and gifts from businessman Darshan Hiranandani and asking questions related to Gautam Adani in Parliament. In this matter, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey had written a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla demanding an investigation. After this the Speaker handed over the matter to the Ethics Committee.
The 10-member Ethics Committee had questioned Nishikant Dubey and Mahua Moitra’s former partner Jai Anant Dehdarai in this case. After this Mahua Moitra was called. However, she left the meeting midway and came out. He had accused the Ethics Committee members of asking personal questions. Not only this, the Ethics Committee has also recommended termination of his membership with a majority of 6-4. In such a situation, it is important for Mamata Banerjee to give him new responsibility.
Mahua Moitra herself has informed about getting the new responsibility and thanked Mamata Banerjee. He wrote on the social media post, ‘I thank Mamata Banerjee and Trinamool Congress for the responsibility of District President. I will always work in the interest of the party and the people of Krishnanagar.’ It is noteworthy that Mamata Banerjee has not said anything openly in support of Mahua Moitra till now. But by giving him responsibility amid the controversy, it is clear that there is definitely tacit support from his side.
Thank you @MamataOfficial and @AITCofficial for appointing me District President of Krishnanagar (Nadia North) .
