To please Lord Indra, two boys were married to each other.

Karnataka| In Mandya district, two boys got married to please Lord Indra. One boy became the bridegroom and the other the bride. Both were taken for a tour in traditional clothes. A feast was also given to the entire village at the wedding ceremony organized in Gangenahalli village of Krishnarajpet block.
However, it was all symbolic. The villagers followed the age-old tradition of marriage and feast. All this happened so that this time there could be good rains in the village.
The people of Gangenahalli village told that Karnataka has received less rainfall this year so far as compared to last year. On Friday, the villagers gathered and followed their age-old tradition of pleasing Lord Indra. We prayed to Lord Indra to give us good rains this time. The tradition of marrying two young men for rain is a very old one in the rural areas of Karnataka. In the year 2017, one such symbolic marriage took place in Bengaluru. People believe that this type of marriage makes the people of the village happy and prosperous.
Madhya Pradesh received less rainfall than normal in 2017. After this, two youths got married in Musakhedi, Indore. The mandap was decorated for both the boys and both took seven rounds. Local people from both sides also participated in this.
According to the Meteorological Department, this year the monsoon is likely to be normal across the country. However, people in Karnataka are still suffering from the heat. That’s why people here are praying to god for good rains as per age old tradition
