Tobacco control committees will be formed in 1399 schools of the district to stop tobacco consumption among students

Director of Secondary Education Ashish Modi has issued an order in this regard. According to the order, the tobacco control committee should include teachers, student representatives as well as a representative from the local police station.

District Collector Shubham Chaudhary said that there are a total of 1399 government and non-government educational institutions in the district. Tobacco control committees will be formed in all schools. The committee should be taken seriously. The committee will work towards stopping tobacco consumption in schools. Students will be made aware for this.

This committee will be authorized to impose a fine of Rs 100 for the first time and Rs 200 for the second time if someone is found smoking in the school. Despite this, strict action will be taken against students and employees who are repeatedly found smoking. Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. Rajesh Kumar said that the Education Department has taken initiative to stop tobacco consumption among students. Under which tobacco control committees will be formed in 1399 educational institutions of the district. The school will also have to put up a tobacco free institute board.

Director of Secondary Education Ashish Modi has issued an order in this regard. He said that there should be a board at the main entrance of educational institutions, on which it should be written in clear letters – Selling gutkha, beedi, cigarette or other tobacco products within a radius of 100 yards of educational institutions is punishable. “An offence, for violating which a fine of up to Rs 200 can be imposed.” Apart from this, tobacco control programs should be organized prominently in educational institutions and offices and posters and other IECs related to the program should be displayed prominently. No smoking board will also have to be installed.
