Tomatoes costlier than gold, breaking the shutters of four shops, stealing goods worth 40 thousand
Thieves have targeted a tomato trader in Jharkhand’s Gumla district. Thieves broke the shutter of his shop and stole 40 kg tomatoes and cash worth Rs 10,000. Apart from this, thieves have also stolen other items from the shops. In this regard, the businessman has given a complaint to the police. Since the matter pertains to tomatoes, the police immediately swung into action and registered a case and started investigating the matter. The police have captured the footage of about a dozen CCTV cameras installed inside and outside the vegetable market.
This incident took place late Friday night in Tangra vegetable market of Sadar police station area in Gumla district. When the vegetable seller came to know about the matter on Saturday morning, he lodged a complaint with the police. According to the police, a woman named Umeshwari runs a shop in the vegetable market. Thieves entered his shop on Friday night and stole 10 kg of tomatoes along with batteries and weighing scales etc.
After this, the thieves broke the shutter of Radha Devi’s shop nearby and stole 10 kg of tomatoes from here too. After this, the thieves stole 11 kg tomatoes and one thousand rupees from another vegetable seller Panpati’s shop and 10 kg tomatoes and three thousand rupees cash from Mohan Mahato’s shop. The shopkeepers of the market told that a total of 40 thousand rupees goods have been stolen. Since tomatoes have already become so expensive that it has become difficult for the shopkeepers to supply them in the market.
In such a situation, by breaking the shutters of four shops in one night and stealing tomatoes, there is a situation of panic among the shopkeepers. Vegetable vendors have urged the police to take quick action to nab the thieves. In-charge of Gumla Sadar police station Manoj Kumar told that efforts are on to identify the accused on the basis of CCTV footage.
