Trial run of Bengaluru-Dharwad Vande Bharat train begins
Bengaluru (IANS) | Karnataka’s second Vande Bharat train between Bengaluru and the twin cities of Hubli-Dharwad began on a trial run on Monday. The train, connecting state capital Bengaluru with the most important city in north Karnataka, began its journey at 5.45 am from Krantiveer Sangolli Rayanna train station in Bengaluru.
The distance between Bengaluru and Dharwad was covered in 6.55 hours. The train which left Bengaluru at 5.45 am is expected to reach Dharwad by 12.40 pm. It will leave Dharwad at 1.15 pm and reach Bengaluru at 8.10 pm.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the train on June 26. It will have eight compartments. The train will cover a distance of 487.47 kilometer and it will run on all days except Tuesday.
Union Minister of Mines, Coal and Parliamentary Affairs Pralhad Joshi had announced that the state would get the second Vande Bharat Express train in the month of July. Prahlad Joshi said that he has spoken to Railway Minister Ashwin Vaishnav in this regard.
All the preparations for running the train have been completed. He said that the Union Railway Minister has assured to inaugurate the new train by July.
Prime Minister Modi had flagged off the first Vande Bharat train in South India between Mysore and Chennai.
People have expressed happiness over the new train between Bengaluru and Dharwad as it will connect north Karnataka with state capital Bengaluru.
