Tribal society showed us the way to conserve nature: CM Sai

Raipur. Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai has announced to celebrate ‘Tribal Pride Day’ in every district of Chhattisgarh on November 15 on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has decided to celebrate Tribal Pride Day in the memory of Lord Birsa Munda on November 15. This year is the 150th birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda. It will also be celebrated in a grand manner in Chhattisgarh. The Chief Minister was addressing a one-day workshop organized on the topic ‘Glorious past, historical, social and spiritual contribution of tribal society’ at the New Circuit House in the capital Raipur today.

The Chief Minister said that the tribal society has a glorious history. It is a matter of pride to think that many great freedom fighters were born in the tribal society. The tradition of fighting for one’s country has been there in the tribal society since the beginning. Many great heroes like Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh, Gaind Singh, Gundadhur sacrificed their lives. The Chief Minister said that the whole world is facing serious challenges of climate change today. In such a situation, conservation of nature is very necessary. Tribal society has shown us the path of conservation of nature, which is still exemplary. Nature is worshipped in tribal society. Sarhul festival is celebrated when sal trees blossom in eastern Chhattisgarh. The Chief Minister said that there is deep spirituality hidden in tribal culture. Living a life in harmony with nature by preserving nature. There is no discrimination between big and small, men and women. Everyone is equal and nature’s gifts are for everyone. We need to learn these things from this society. In fact, the art of living should be learned from tribal society. Social evils like dowry do not exist in tribal society. The valor of Lord Birsa Munda always shows us the path of courage in life. He dreamt of an exploitation-free society. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has tried to bring prosperity in the lives of people of special backward tribes by starting the Pradhan Mantri Janman Yojana in accordance with his vision. The Prime Minister will launch the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Unnat Gram Abhiyan from Hazaribagh tomorrow, in which more than 5 crore people of 63 thousand tribal-dominated villages will be benefited. The Chief Minister said that tribal people never show off, their simplicity and spontaneity captivates the mind. The eating style of tribal society keeps away from lifestyle related diseases like BP-sugar. He said that this workshop organized by the Higher Education Department on ‘Glorious Past of Tribal Society’ will prove to be a milestone in bringing the pride of tribal society in front of the entire society.

Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap, while presiding over the program, said that the tribal society has contributed a lot in the freedom struggle of the country. Many great men were born in this society who started the struggle against the British even before the 1857 revolution. During the freedom struggle, the British suffered a huge loss in the tribal areas, on many occasions they were forced to retreat. Mr. Kashyap said that when the British started laying the railway line in Bastar, wood was used in it. The tribal society opposed it and expressed the feeling that no one will cut our forest. Due to social unity, a lot was preserved. He said that the event being organized today will help in conveying the story of pride of the tribal society recorded in the pages of history to our future generations. He said that Bastar Dussehra is the biggest proof of social harmony. 80 percent of the families in this society are joint families. The educated society needs to learn many things from the tribal society like the use of millet, organic farming.

The welcome speech was given by Prasanna R., Secretary, Higher Education Department. Shri Vaibhav Surange, All India Youth Affairs Chief of Vanvasi Vikas Samiti, elaborately highlighted the contribution of the tribal society in the freedom struggle. He said that there are many progressive traditions in tribal culture. They do not ask anything from God. Dr. Anurag Jain, Secretary, Vanvasi Vikas Samiti, said that there is a need to make the new generation familiar with the contribution of the unknown great heroes of the tribal society. In the program, State President of Vanvasi Vikas Samiti, Shri Umesh Kashyap, Vice Chancellor of the University and enlightened citizens were present in large numbers. On this occasion, the guests including the Chief Minister visited the exhibition focused on the freedom fighters of the tribal society.
