Tribal women are learning the skills of economic progress, management and savings.
Raipur. A three-day training cum workshop on storage, packaging and marketing of minor forest produce for the tribal women of the state is being organized from 13 to 15 September at the Tribal Research and Training Institute, Nava Raipur. During the training, tribal women will learn the skills of economic growth and savings along with proper management. The training-cum-workshop is being organized by Chhattisgarh in collaboration with the Foundation for Ecological Security under the direction of Director-cum-Commissioner Mrs. Shammi Abidi.
The workshop was inaugurated by lighting the lamp of Chhattisgarh Mahtari by Pragyan Seth, Joint Director of Tribal Research and Training Institute and Manjit Kaur Bal, Director of Foundation for Ecological Security, Sangeeta and the women of the group present in the training cum workshop. Joint Director Pragyan Seth said that the objective of the training-cum-workshop is the all-round development of tribal women living in tribal areas. How to make the collection, storage and packaging of forest produce done in tribal areas attractive and sell it in the market in an efficient manner.
Through the three-day workshop, tribal women of self-help groups from different districts of the state will be able to know about the availability of markets for processing and selling forest products. This will increase the selling capacity of their products, which will strengthen them as well as help in increasing their self-esteem. This workshop will also be helpful in the economic progress of tribal women and in teaching them the skill of saving along with proper management. Director of Foundation for Ecological Security said in the workshop that proper packaging of forest products keeps the product safe and increases its value. On this occasion, Sangeeta said that different forest products are collected in different areas of Chhattisgarh state, which needs to be collected and consumed in balance with nature, so that its supply remains continuous.
