TRICHY: Demanding to end the 11 year wait
Tiruchi: Candidates who cleared the TET in 2013 staged a protest in Tiruchi on Monday and denounced the state government for issuing appointment orders to only 410 candidates while 40,000 of them have been waiting for over 11 years. According to the protesting members, over 40,000 candidates had cleared the TET across the state in 2013 but the government failed to appoint them. They claimed that the DMK had promised to appoint TET pass candidates in its election manifesto but failed to fulfil the promise.
Meanwhile, 410 candidates who had approached the court for appointment were given orders. “Those candidates had scored lesser marks than the majority of candidates in TET. Since they could afford to spend money for legal proceedings, they were allotted employment orders but the remaining eligible candidates are still waiting for appointment,” said state coordinator Ilangovan, who led the protest. He also said that they have organised more than 60 protests across the state and sent more than 2,000 petitions to the Chief Minister’s special cell, but no steps were taken for their employment. “Since we are struggling for livelihood, we are ready to work for a consolidated payment of Rs 10,000,” he said. Candidates from different districts participated in the protest.
