Jashpur: A case of brutal murder of a woman on suspicion of witchcraft has come to light in the district. A man attacked a woman with a sickle and killed her, saying that she had made his son ill by using witchcraft. After committing the crime, the accused has absconded and the police is searching for him. The incident took place in Bodalata village of Chitakwain Panchayat under Narayanpur police station of Bagicha area.
Regarding this incident, police station in-charge Inspector JR Kurre said that the incident happened last night, when Anand Bhagat’s family was sleeping after having dinner. Meanwhile, at 10.30 pm, Anil Kujur knocked on the door of the house and started calling. On this the daughter of the deceased opened the door. Then Anil Kujur grabbed 40-year-old Alapmuni, dragged him outside and killed him by attacking him with a paddy sickle, saying that he would make his son ill by practicing witchcraft.
