Trump calls Flydubai’s Indian pilot Smit Machhar a ‘hero’
Washington. US President Donald Trump has praised the bravery of Flydubai’s Indian pilot Captain Smit Machar, calling him a ‘hero’. Trump said that despite being allegedly attacked with a knife by the co-pilot on the flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv, Smit Machar did not lose courage and played an important role in saving the lives of the people present on the plane by calling for help. Trump shared this information based on his conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The incident occurred on a flydubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv. During the flight a violent struggle suddenly broke out in the cockpit. It is alleged that the co-pilot attacked Captain Smit Machar with a knife and tried to gain control of the aircraft. During this, the plane started going down rapidly, due to which there was chaos among the passengers. According to available reports, the plane descended thousands of feet, but the situation was later brought under control.
Despite being seriously injured, Smit Machar managed to open the cockpit door and call for help. After this, some passengers and other people present in the plane reached the cockpit and overpowered the alleged attacking co-pilot. After the incident, the plane was diverted to Saudi Arabia instead of taking it to Israel. The plane made an emergency landing in Tabuk. All the passengers were evacuated safely. Captain Smit Machar was taken to hospital for treatment, where his condition is said to be stable.
