Shuvendu Accuses Mamata of Lacking Courage in Nandigram
In the last assembly elections, Mamata Banerjee lost in Nandigram. So this time the Trinamool leader could not show the courage to contest against her. That is why she herself has gone to Bhavanipur. Shuvendu Adhikari claimed that he will defeat Chief Minister Mamata there too in the upcoming assembly elections. On Saturday, the opposition leader said in Nandigram, ‘Last time I lost by 1956 votes. After that, in the last five years, she (Mamata) has said a lot. But this time she could not show the courage. But I have shown the courage. Modiji said, I have to contest from Bhavanipur. I have also gone. This time I will lose there too.’
The ruling party has reacted to Shuvendu’s comments. Sujit Kumar Roy, president of the Tamluk organizational district Trinamool, said, “He (Shubhendu) is suffering from disappointment in two places. That is why he is making such comments while standing in the heart of Nandigram. The people of Nandigram will not listen to these comments. Mamata Banerjee and her government are thinking about the common people by organizing health camps and door-to-door government for Nandigram. That is why he will be defeated in both Nandigram and Bhavanipur.”
Incidentally, Trinamool had initially alleged that load shedding was done during the counting of votes in Nandigram last time. Based on this allegation, Mamata also filed an election petition in the Calcutta High Court. It is still pending in the court. This time, Trinamool has fielded Pavitra Karke, a former close associate of Subhendu, as its candidate in Nandigram. Subhendu said, ‘Last time, we lost the owner in Nandigram. This time, the employee has stood up!’ Trinamool All India General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee is scheduled to hold a meeting in Nandigram on Sunday.
Shuvendur had several programs in Nandigram since Saturday morning. First, he held a meeting at the Subadi Mangeshwari Temple premises in Ahmedabad. There, he said, “I have to travel the entire state. So I cannot give much time. But I have faith in you. After winning the election, it is my responsibility to complete the railway line work in Nandigram and put it on the railway. About 1,000 landowners have got jobs for the railway line. About 400 people have not got jobs yet. After winning, I will arrange jobs for them.”
