Two drown in sea in Odisha; 1 dead, 1 missing

Ganjam: In a tragic incident, two students have allegedly drowned in the sea in Aryapally block of Ganjam district in Odisha.

According to reports, one among them is allegedly dead and the other one is missing. The accident occurred while taking a bath in the sea in Aryapally block of Ganjam district.

The deceased student has been identified as Swapna Rani Pandit of Konishi area and Guduly Mishra of Shergarh has been identified as the missing student.

The girls had allegedly gone to see a jatra near their maternal uncle’s house. This morning as many as five friends had gone for a swim in the sea.

Reports say that there was a rogue wave and all five of the friends were washed away while swimming. Among three people were rescued safely.

Later, the body of one girl was recovered. Another girl is still missing. The rescue operation is underway by the villagers and the ODRAF team.
