Two IEDs recovered from Handwara in Jammu and Kashmir
Srinagar (IANS). Jammu and Kashmir Police in a joint operation with the Army have recovered two IEDs from Vodhpura forest area of Handwara in North Kashmir. Officials gave this information on Monday.
According to the police, based on specific inputs, the army along with the Handwara police launched a search operation in Vodhpura forest in the morning. In a joint operation, two IEDs of approximately five and seven kg were recovered from Vodhpura Ridge near NH-701.
The joint team immediately cordoned off the area with adequate security measures. The IED was detected by the Indian Army’s highly trained Explosive Detection Team equipped with explosive detectors and army dogs.
Intensive search operation has been resumed by joint teams of Army and Handwara Police in Vodhpura forest area for possible hiding of any more IEDs or terrorists. “A major incident was averted in the area due to prompt action by a joint team of security forces,” police said.
