UEFA bans Benfica’s Gianluca Prestiani for six matches for homophobic behaviour

Sports: European football’s governing body, UEFA, has imposed a major disciplinary ban on Benfica winger Gianluca Prestiani for six matches in Barcelona. This action follows a controversial incident during a Champions League match against Real Madrid in February.

According to UEFA, the 20-year-old Argentine player was convicted of “discriminatory (homophobic) behavior.” The organization clarified in a statement that such behavior is taken seriously and has a strict policy against any form of discrimination in sports.

According to the information released, three of the six-match ban has been suspended for a two-year probation period. This means that if the player does not violate any disciplinary rules during this period, he can avoid the three-match ban.
