Europe: Ukraine’s Minister of Agricultural Policy and Food Mykola Solsky and his Polish counterpart Robert Tellus have discussed Ukraine’s grain export issue, the Ukrainian government said. During a phone conversation on Thursday, the ministers discussed Ukraine’s proposal to resolve the grain dispute between the two sides, Xinhua news agency reported. In the talks, an attempt was made to find a solution keeping in mind the interests of both the countries. The two leaders also agreed that the Polish side would study Ukraine’s export plan and prepare its own proposals. The next round of talks between the two sides is scheduled to take place in the coming days. Earlier, Ukraine and Slovakia reached an agreement on establishing a licensing system for Ukrainian agricultural products instead of extending Ukraine’s export restrictions, Ukrainform reported. Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmyhal said the country has submitted an action plan to the European Commission to help prevent any market distortions in Ukraine’s neighboring EU member states. Last week, Poland, Hungary and Slovakia announced they would continue the embargo on Ukrainian grain despite the European Commission’s decision to lift the ban from September 15.
