UN reveals, number of displaced people in Gaza increased to 187,518

Gaza. The United Nations has revealed that the number of displaced people in Gaza has risen to 187,518. Agencies say that due to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, the number of displaced people in the Gaza Strip has increased. The UN office (OCHA) said in its latest update that mass displacement in the Gaza Strip has increased to 187,518 in the last 24 hours. This number is likely to increase further. OCHA said that of the total displaced persons, 137,427 are currently taking shelter in schools run by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA). According to the office, since the beginning of the conflict on October 7, four schools and eight health facilities have been damaged in Gaza. Also, UNRWA said in an update that its Gaza field office, which houses domestic and international staff, has suffered additional damage due to airstrikes in the Rimal area. In total, 18 UNRWA facilities have been affected so far. The death toll from both sides has increased to around 1,600 in the violence that continued for the fourth day on Tuesday. The Palestinian Health Ministry has confirmed that the death toll from retaliatory Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip has reached 687 and 3,726, respectively.
According to Israeli government officials, more than 900 people have been killed so far, including 260 who were killed by Hamas gunmen at a music festival shortly after the group launched the attack. Officials said the death toll was expected to rise as rescue teams have not yet been able to reach areas where Hamas militants and Israeli troops are still engaged in fierce fighting. The Israeli Health Ministry said the number of injured people had reached 2,616, including 25 who were in critical condition.
