UoH launches its first international joint teaching programme
In a collaborative effort, Pramod K Nayar and Anna Kurian, associated with the UNESCO chair in Vulnerability Studies at the University of Hyderabad (UoH), joined forces with Professor Tess Maginess from Queen’s University, Belfast (QUB), to inaugurate a groundbreaking 1-credit, 5-week online course on Tuesday.
This innovative course, titled ‘Ageing through Literature from the Global South and Global North,’ represents a pioneering joint-teaching venture by the Department of English at UoH. Remarkably, UoH has granted approval for this course to be offered as an extra credit option for its students. The teaching materials and resources, collaboratively developed, are accessible on the dedicated website hosted by QUB The selected texts for study encompass works by renowned authors such as Anita Desai, Seamus Heaney, Tove Jansson, Keki N Daruwalla, WB Yeats, and Manohar Shetty, all examined within relevant theoretical frameworks.
Professor BJ Rao, the Vice Chancellor of UoH, highlighted that the course meticulously selects texts from a diverse array of influential writers hailing from the global North and South. The participation of students from India and Ireland promises to weave a tapestry of intercultural experiential learning, emblematic of a truly enriching educational experience.
