UP news: Man sentenced to death for raping minor girl
Bahraich (UP): A local court here on Monday awarded death penalty to a 22-year-old man for raping and murdering a four-and-a-half-year-old girl earlier this year. Special Additional District and Sessions Judge POCSO Court Deep Kant Mani also imposed a fine of Rs 1.1 lakh on him, government lawyer Sant Pratap Singh said. Singh said Rajesh alias Lala, a resident of a village under Kaiserganj police station, had raped a girl on February 21.
Singh said the girl’s body was found in a sugarcane field near the village and Rajesh was arrested on suspicion in the case. Police in their investigation found that Rajesh’s brother Kallu had helped him in the crime. Kallu is still absconding. The court has ordered that the entire amount of the fine be given to the victim’s mother.
