UP: Schools will remain closed till January 6 amid cold wave
Lucknow: In view of cold wave conditions and dense fog, the district administration in Lucknow on Tuesday announced closure of schools for students of class 1 to class 8 till January 6. According to the order issued by District Education Officer Ram Pravesh on the instructions of the District Magistrate, winter vacation has been declared in all the schools of Lucknow district till January 6. “In relation to the above incident, you are aware that at present a cold wave is going on in the entire state including Lucknow district and it is extremely cold. “Following the instructions given by the District Magistrate, you are ordered to ensure leave to all children studying in schools from Pre-Primary to Class 8 till January 6, 2024,” read the order.
It said, “If classes from classes 9 to 12 are being conducted, their timings should be kept between 10:00 am to 03:00 pm only.” The order from the District Education Officer states, “Strict compliance with the above should be ensured. “Strict action will be taken as per rules against any school that does not ensure compliance with the above.” Earlier last week, the Varanasi district administration had also announced closure of schools for students from Class 1 to Class 8 till January 6 due to cold wave conditions.
Meanwhile, India Meteorological Department (IMD) Director General Dr Mrityunjay Mohapatra said, ‘During January 5-11, we are expecting a drop in night temperatures, leading to cold wave conditions in parts of central India. may arise.
“Day temperatures will also remain below normal, leading to cold day conditions especially over Madhya Pradesh, northern parts of Maharashtra and southern parts of Uttar Pradesh,” Mohapatra said.
Earlier on Monday, people woke up to severe cold on New Year’s morning in the national capital.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature in the capital was recorded at 9 degrees Celsius due to unusually cold wave and dense fog on Monday.
Local people called upon the administration to make necessary arrangements for the needy or those taking shelter in night shelters.
