utility thinking to make life easier
Making the simple complicated is common but making the complex simple, amazingly easy, that is creativity. World Utility Day is celebrated to develop this creative thinking. The purpose of this day is to promote the values of usability, usability engineering, universal usability, user-centric design and responsibility of the common user and to create caution, alertness and awareness among them about things that work well. Today is the era of technology and technology, the world of ever-new consumer goods, materials and services is developing, in which it is very difficult to use technology easily and simply. A cell phone should be as easy to use as a door knob. To humanize a world that uses technology as infrastructure for education, health care, government, communications, entertainment, work, and other fields, we must agree to develop technologies in a way that puts people first. Serve. After meeting the basic needs of food, clothing and shelter, all human beings habitually rush to use, collect and store technology and technological products and materials. Because most of the comforts and luxuries are not the demands of the body but only of the mind, which gives rise to endless cravings. But it is in these demands related to the mind that the chances of a person being cheated, misled and suffering are highest, hence the basic aim of Utility Day is to protect from these dangers and crises.
It is important to have prudence and understanding in the use of developing technology and technical means and services to expand the opportunistic life. An approach of proper harmony, cooperation and coordination between technology and use is required. That is why this year the theme of this day is ‘Cooperation and Collaboration’. The day originated as an idea in 2004 arising from a discussion between two UPA board members, Elizabeth Rosenzweig and Nigel Bevan. Technology should make our lives better, not add stress and problems to life or cause danger through poor design or poor quality. It is required to ensure that the technology and techniques being developed are effective, efficient, satisfactory and reliable and are usable by all people. This is especially important for people with disabilities, as technology can improve their lives, allowing them to participate more fully in work, social and civic experiences.
Technology should be developed knowing that man has some limitations. If the technology is not easy to use and understand, human error will occur. We need to reduce human error that results from poor design and poor quality goods. We believe there is a need for a concerted and coordinated effort to develop reliable, easy-to-use technology to serve people in all aspects of their lives, including education, health, government, privacy, communications, work, and entertainment. We must put people at the center of design, starting with their needs and wants and resulting in technology that benefits us all. Which helps humans truly realize their potential, so that we can create a better world for ourselves and future generations.
It is a unique, unique and relevant day that brings together communities of professional, industrial, academic, civic and government groups for a common purpose, providing a worldwide day of events from around the world. This day is also so that technology can help people live their full potential and create a better use and consumption world for all citizens everywhere. Educational technology should not only be affordable and accessible, but also usable by teachers, students and parents. Similarly, healthcare should be available to everyone around the world. Medical technology can improve health, but it must be easy to use. Even a small error in this area can be costly and extremely harmful to life. We need a healthy food supply that will improve the well-being of people everywhere. Technology that produces better food for all must be built on research that is in the interest of all humanity.
Governments and communication systems around the world also come under the ambit of World Utility Day. Governments should use new technology to better serve citizens and increase participation in the civic experience. Citizens in many countries of the world can pay taxes and take care of business online; This same capability must be available to all, eliminating the digital divide that separates the rich from the poor or separates social groups. Voting systems must ensure trust and confidence in elections. Technology that supports civic engagement must provide equal access and opportunity to all citizens. The communication revolution has greatly helped in connecting people with each other. More means of communication have developed than ever before such as phone, internet, mobile, messaging and printed media. The use of technology that facilitates communication between people should be seamless. As the use of technology increases,
