Uttarakhand: After the departure of monsoon, road work will be done on war footing.

Heavy rains in the current monsoon season have worsened the condition of the roads in the state. During this period, more than three thousand roads and 93 bridges have been damaged. The loss on these is estimated to be around Rs 554 crore. The government has already made a budget provision of about Rs 650 crore to repair roads and bridges.
As soon as the monsoon recedes from the state, the work of polishing the roads will be done on war footing. A budget provision of Rs 300 crore was made by the state government for road safety in the financial year 2023-24. Some of this money has also been released.
Apart from this, Rs 200 crore more has been received under this item in the supplementary budget. Whereas a provision of Rs 150 crore has been made for the improvement of PMGSY roads. Till now, under the road safety item, about Rs 233.51 crore has been released by the government for 56 works on roads of 4117.54 km length.
Tenders are being invited for approved works
Till now the entire emphasis of the government and administration was on opening the closed roads. But now the work to repair them will be done rapidly. Funds have already been allocated for some of the works. To improve the roads, the government has released Rs 22.39 crore for 15 works in the month of June, Rs 144.95 crore for 24 works in the month of July and Rs 66.17 crore for 17 works in the month of August. Now tenders are being invited for the approved works. In this way, the government has so far approved Rs 233.51 crore for 56 works on roads with a total length of 4117.54 km.

After the rains, the work of improving the roads will be done rapidly. There is no shortage of money. Till now, approval of Rs 233.51 crore has been received from the government for the improvement of roads of about 4117 km length. Estimates of 95 works of 5655.87 km long roads have been sent to the government, which are expected to be approved soon. Apart from this, work of improving bridges will also be done.
