Uttarakhand Cabinet approves draft UCC Bill
Uttarakhand: The Uttarakhand Cabinet on Sunday approved the Uniform Civil Code draft bill, news agency PTI reported. This will pave the way for presenting it in the state assembly.
The assembly session is about to begin. In this session, the Chief Minister is going to present the Equal Citizenship Act on the table of the House on 6th February. And we are going to get it passed in the House and implement it in the state soon. After this, Uttarakhand will become the first state in the country to implement UCC.
On the other hand, Muslim Seva Sangathan has also expressed its opposition to UCC. Not only this, Section 144 has been imposed in the state before the Assembly session, so that when the UCC draft will be tabled in the Assembly on February 6, no anti-social element can carry out any untoward incident. In order to ensure that there is no disturbance or untoward situation or incident in the state, Section 144 has been implemented from today itself.
