Vicious thief who stole cash including gold and silver worth lakhs arrested
Korba. Korba police has arrested the accused of theft in the house of Shailendra Singh Rajput, living at Bhandari Chowk, Purani Basti. The accused had stolen a total of Rs 4.5 lakh from the deserted house by mixing gold and silver jewellery, mobile and cash. City Kotwali police succeeded in arresting the accused Neeraj Soni. The theft incident took place on the night of 27 July. ASI officer Khan, posted at City Kotwali, told that accused Neeraj Soni targeted the deserted house of Shailendra Singh Rajput living in Bhandari Chowk. He broke open the cupboard and made away with goods worth about Rs 4.5 lakh including cash, mobile and gold and silver jewellery.
On the complaint of landlord Shailendra, the police registered a case against the unknown accused and started investigation. On the basis of suspicion, the police detained Sanjay Nagar resident Neeraj Soni and strictly interrogated him. Investigating Officer Afsar Khan told that the accused was trying to escape. He was roaming around the bus stand with gold and silver jewellery. He told that during interrogation the accused has confessed to his crime. Gold-silver jewellery, mobile and cash worth about Rs 4.5 lakh have been recovered from him. The accused has been arrested and presented in the court, from where he has been sent to jail in judicial custody. When the police arrested the accused, he was in an inebriated state. The police have handed over all the stolen goods to the landlord Shailendra Singh Rajput.
