VIJAYAWADA: Bangla team to study natural farming methods in Andhra Pradesh

VIJAYAWADA: A 15-member delegation from Bangladesh led by senior officials of Palli Karma Ajjaka Foundation (PKSF) is on a four-day visit to the state to inspect the natural farming programs implemented by the Rythu Sadhikara Sanstha in the name of Andhra Pradesh community. Managed Natural Farming (APCN). PKSF, established by the Government of Bangladesh, is a key player in poverty alleviation, with a membership of 1.75 million people, of which more than 90 percent are women. The delegation includes Akonda Mohammed Rafiqul Islam, Tafiq Hasan Shah Choudhary, Afreen Sultana, Kapil Kumar Paul and other prominent personalities, showcasing expertise in agriculture, entomology, nutrition and veterinary sciences. The visit began with a presentation by Vijay Kumar, Executive Vice President, Rythu Sadhikara Sanstha, outlining the natural farming programs of the state. A video shows crops overcoming the recent Cyclone Michong, emphasizing the resilience of natural agriculture. The field visit to Bapulpadu, Kanumolu and Kakulpadu villages provided the delegation with live demonstrations on bio-fertilizer production, including preparation of ‘Bijamritham’ and Drava Jeevamritham (liquid bio-fertilizer). The team also explored the ‘Nature Agricultural Cycle’ that encompasses universal principles. The delegation saw various farming models, including ‘Vegetable Model,’ A Grade Model, ATM (Any Time Money), and Rabi Dry Sowing Model. He actively participated in ‘Farmer Field School’ to understand the intricacies of natural farming practices. At the Rythu Bharosa Center in Kakulpadu village, the delegation participated in a team film exhibition showcasing natural farms that withstood the Michong cyclone. Discussion with representatives and women members of Gram Aikya Sangam provided information about the progress of natural farming in the state. The visit highlights the spirit of exchange of knowledge and promotion of mutual development in sustainable agricultural practices between Bangladesh and APV. With the important role of PKSF in poverty alleviation, the delegation’s comments can enhance and refine natural farming initiatives in Bangladesh, thereby impacting agricultural sustainability and livelihoods.
