Wanted member of notorious Mewat ATM theft gang arrested in Delhi

New Delhi: A wanted member of a Mewat-based gang involved in 64 cases in Delhi, Maharashtra, Karnataka has been arrested by the Special Cell. A Delhi Police official gave this information on Thursday.

According to the police officer, the arrested gangster was involved in 64 cases including murder, attempt to murder, kidnapping, armed robbery/robbery, extortion, snatching, attack on police teams, breaking of ATM, Arms Act, MCOC Act.

Police have also recovered a .32 bore semi-automatic pistol along with four live cartridges from the possession of accused Nadeem alias Kallu. He was also declared a fugitive criminal in the case of firing on the police team of New Osmanpur police station.
According to the police, special information was received on Tuesday that Kallu would come to 2nd Pusta Road of Sonia Vihar.

Special Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) HGS Dhaliwal said, “Acting on a tip-off, a trap was laid and Kallu was caught.”

The Special CP further said that Nadeem was also wanted in six criminal cases, including breaking two ATMs and stealing cash worth Rs 40 lakh in the states of Maharashtra and Karnataka in the first week of this month.

“The accused and other members of this gang are so desperate that they do not hesitate to open fire on the police at the slightest opposition. The accused and his associates opened fire on police teams four times in Tilak Marg area.” Nand Nagari, New Osmanpur and Bawana,” Dhaliwal said.

Nadeem has been involved in crime in Delhi/NCR for the last 21 years. Dhaliwal said, “He has revealed that he was not appearing in Delhi courts in various pending trial cases and the concerned courts have initiated proceedings to declare him a fugitive in more than five criminal cases.”
