Water level in Jalaka river crosses danger mark in Odisha’s Balasore
Jaleswar: The water level in Jalaka river has risen above the danger mark near Mathani in Balasore district of Odisha. This is due to the continuous rainfall in the upper catchment areas of Mayurbhanj district.Water level in the river near Mathani area was recorded at 6.42 meters at 6 AM today. This is higher than the danger threshold of 5.50 meters.
There lies a threat of flood in several areas due to weak river embankment.The water level in Jalaka river is rising due to heavy rainfall in Suliapada, Morada, Chitrada, Rasgobindpur areas of Mayurbhanj. It is estimated that in case of a flood, the crops of 12 panchayats under Basta and Sadar block of the district will be destroyed.
