Wazirabad water treatment plant is producing 54 MGD water: CM Kejriwal
New Delhi. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday said that the Wazirabad water treatment plant has started producing 54 MGD water. Kejriwal tweeted, Wazirabad water treatment plant has a capacity of 134 MGD. It has started production of 54 MGD. Equipment in this plant has suffered maximum damage. It is expected that it will soon start working at full capacity. Engineers are working 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Water treatment plants at Wazirabad, Chandrawal and Okhla were temporarily closed due to rising water level in Yamuna river, leading to water shortage in some areas. Due to heavy rains and rise in the water level of Yamuna, the regulator of Delhi Jal Board (DJB) which was broken has been fixed. Some areas of the national capital remained inundated on Monday as well. The water was about 10-12 feet deep behind the Red Fort and surrounding areas like ITO, ISBT, Rajghat and Shanti Van were also inundated. The water was eight feet deep near Nigam Bodh Ghat, the biggest cremation ground. Which is currently closed.
