Davos: US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Wednesday said the United States sees India as an ‘extraordinary success story’ and said India’s leadership under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has boosted relations with many allies. Has benefited.
Speaking at the World Economic Forum, Secretary Blinken noted that India-US interactions have always underlined the importance of democracy and human rights and have set relations between the two countries on a new level.
“We see an extraordinary success story and we see the remarkable achievements that Prime Minister Modi has achieved moving forward under his watch, which has materially benefited and positively impacted many colleagues. We also see our relations between our countries at a new level. This is a very deliberate effort by both the Prime Minister and President Biden. “At the same time, an ongoing and regular part of our conversation is a conversation about democracy and human rights,” Blinken said.
“When the President (Biden) took office, he wanted to make sure that we get back to our foreign policy,” he said. These are fundamental concerns about democracy, about human rights, and we did that. We do it in different ways in different places. “Because of the nature of our relationship with the country, with the government, this is part of a very sustained, very real conversation and the conversations we have definitely bring about positive change.”
Blinken also commented on Taiwan’s recent presidential elections that angered China and reaffirmed US support for the island nation’s status quo.
“We see a very powerful affirmation of democracy,” he said. We congratulated the people of Taiwan. Our basic interest is to maintain peace and stability. Taiwan says that any differences between Beijing and Taiwan will be resolved peacefully. A testament to the success of relations between the United States and China is indeed the management of the Taiwan issue since the establishment of diplomatic relations. We have received a premium for maintaining the status quo.
